About Indian Festival Dates

Indian Festival Dates is an independent guide to Indian festivals. It helps people find dates, understand what each celebration means, and plan ahead with family and friends, wherever they live.

What you will find here

Festivals from many traditions: Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, Jain, Buddhist and Christian celebrations, regional harvest festivals, and national days. Each festival has its own page with the date, a short explanation, a note on date variations, and buttons to add it to your calendar or share it on WhatsApp.

Where our dates come from

We use published calendars, including the Consulate General of India holiday list, the India Meteorological Department's Rashtriya Panchang, and Drik Panchang. Each card and page links to the source it uses. When calendars disagree, we show the date most of them agree on and describe the difference in the date note.

Why dates can differ

Many festivals follow lunar or regional calendars, so the date can change from year to year and from place to place. Festivals that depend on moon sighting, such as Eid, are marked as expected until announced locally. New Zealand time can also move a date by a day. This site is an informational starting point, not an official calendar, so please confirm important dates with your local community.

Respect for every tradition

India has many religions, languages and customs, and practices differ between communities and families. We aim to describe each festival respectfully and neutrally.
